We are thrilled to have all new and returning Communication Design students joining the program. We are entering an amazing period of growth and change. Across all three Communication Design programs (BFA, MPS and AAS), we comprise close to 500 students and have over 120 faculty members. Ways of Seeing?

What is Communication Design?

Communication Design is the practice of giving form to content. Communication design is an expansive field that is constantly changing based on social, political and technological advancements. As we embark upon each semester, we look forward to continuing to help foster a thriving design community that works towards the innovation of new ideas, the creation of thought-provoking presentations and the development of critical projects that push design forward.

What is Communication Design at Parsons?

Communication Design at Parsons is a special place. In part because we are located within a progressive university and in New York City, Parsons’ Communication Design programs are the most internationally diverse, technologically inclined, socially minded, future-focused, and interdisciplinary programs of their kind. Our students are not just designers: many are also photographers, artists, illustrators, programmers, social scientists, and writers, and their engagement with students and faculty outside of their chosen field is encouraged and visible in their work. Each year, we publish the work of graduating BFA students at bfacd.parsons.edu. The archive reaches back to 2013, when we began this work.

Working with us are over one hundred part-time faculty who work in a variety of contexts, both within companies and independently (often at the same time). Most teach one class a week, and some also teach at neighboring schools like Pratt, Rutgers, and SVA.
